The Brackley Skatepark is now officially open
The Brackley Council want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has been involved throughout the process of inspiring, designing and building the new Brackley Skatepark. It has taken years of persistent hard work and negotiation to make this dream a reality. We want to express our gratitude to the residents, councilors and staff that have dedicated their time to push the Brackley skatepark project through to completion.
The idea for a skatepark in Brackley has been around for years, and taken an unbelievable amount of organization to bring to fruition. One of the earliest examples of the residents of Brackley campaigning for a skatepark is an excellent video by some young locals skating on the town piazza. We want to extend our thanks to them for getting the ball rolling, and starting the process that has culminated in Brackley having a skatepark that can be enjoyed by residents for generations to come.
We also want to extend our thanks to Ian and the whole team at Maverick skateparks for building such a fantastic park. Maverick are a cutting edge skatepark building company and are responsible for over 70 new parks across the UK. They originally had Brackley's park booked in to be completed in April 2025, the earliest slot available at the time. However due to some lucky timing and cancellations we were able to have the park finished over 6 months early.
Maverik will also be holding a Skate Jam on Saturday 26 April (the original opening date) as they were unable to move the jam up closer. However, we all felt giving the grass some time to grow and the skaters some time to practice before the skate jam wasn't that high a price to pay in order to have the park early.
We cannot express how excited we are to see what comes next, and we hope everyone loves and cares for the new park as much as we do.
