Notice of weekend road closure, A421, Finmere

When will these works take place? 

The A421 will be fully closed from 6am Saturday 24 June to 6am Monday 26 June 2023, with signed diversions in place. We will work to open the roads to reduce disruption as soon as possible. Access will be maintained for all residents within the closure area. Due to the nature of the works, there will be no access for emergency services.

What are we doing? 

Over the last six months, we have been carrying out preparatory works for the main construction of the A421 realignment and permanent bridge. This new bridge will carry traffic over the HS2 railway and along the newly aligned A421 road. 

Over one weekend in June, we will be carrying out some utility diversions along the A421. This work will involve excavating the carriageway, installing the utility diversion and then restoring the road surface. To facilitate these works, we will need to fully close this section of the A421. This weekend closure is required because our teams will be working in open trenches directly in the carriageway.
