HS2 are progressing with work on the A422 and will now be completing two phases of work. 

A422 Road Closures 

• Saturday 10 December to Tuesday 13 December 2022 (8pm to 6am) 
• As a contingency should there be delays to the works: Friday 16 December to Monday 19 December 2022 (8pm to 6am)

A422 Lane Closures 

• Monday 28 August to late February 2023 
• Working hours: Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm and Saturdays: 8am – 1pm 
• Contractors may be on site for one hour’s start up and shut down either side 

What are they doing? 

We are progressing with our work on the A422. During the first phase, we will be working on the new temporary diversion and will be carrying out drainage and utility diversion works.

To do this safely, we will introduce temporary traffic management on the A422 in the form of two-way traffic lights during our normal working hours, Monday to Saturday.

We will be monitoring the timing of the lights as well as the traffic flow on the A422. Where practical, we will make improvements and adjustments to the lights as required.

During the second phase, we will be tying in the new road and roundabout to the A422 ready for it to be opened up to traffic. These works will include the installation of lighting and signage, resurfacing and white lining. For reasons of safety, these works will require full 24-hour road closures of the A422 over two weekends in December.
